Amman Beach Resort at the Dead Sea

I floated in the Dead Sea! It is the saltiest and lowest body of water in the world, lying 1,340 feet below sea level. It is situated at the mouth of the Jordan River and forms part of the border between Jordan and Israel. This will be an experience that I will share with my third grade students as we discuss why it is so easy to float in the Dead Sea and why it is called the Dead Sea. Third graders can also learn about drinkable water in other places around the world and why it is important to use that water wisely.

Many people believe there are medicinal qualities obtained from rubbing mud from the sea on your body, letting it dry, and then rinsing. We shall see if I have cured any ills. Tomorrow awaits.
